Appointments
Appointments
We are now offering a variety of appointments in the practice. Telephone appointments, online consultations, video consultations, and face-to-face appointments. We always ask patients for their preference on how they would like to be seen.
1. Patchs (Online Consultation) – please use this on-line service via our website to request advice and treatment. Patchs is for non-urgent, routine enquiries. Any enquiry will be responded to within 2 working days. For all urgent enquiries, patients should call reception during the surgery opening hours.
2. Telephone appointments – Used mainly for appointments to discuss recent results with patients.
Unfortunately we are unable to have consultations or offer any advice to the patients who are abroad because we do not have indemnity to cover us for this work. If you will be abroad on the date when your appointment is scheduled for, please contact reception to rebook for when you are back in the UK. If you are unwell when you are abroad, please seek medical advice in the country when you are staying. Thank you for your understanding
One appointment, One problem
We kindly ask that all patients try and stick to our ‘One Appointment ,One Problem’ policy.
The main reason for this request is for clinical safety.
We know that getting an appointment with the doctor is sometimes difficult and that some patients ‘save’ their problems and present them to the doctor at the same time, with or without a list. We also know that the clinician may run late. All of this increases the tendency for patients to present multiple problems to their doctor/ANP at one consultation.
Each appointment is only 10 -15minutes long. Ten minutes is not a lot of time, even for just one problem, There is no time left in the ten minutes to write up notes, fill out forms, complete referrals or speak to other team members for advice.
Pharmacy First
Pharmacy First – a new service for patients with your local pharmacy
The new Pharmacy First scheme means you can go and see a pharmacist about several minor illnesses and conditions you would previously have had to see your GP about. You can visit your pharmacist for a consultation and they will treat you and prescribe medication if necessary. If your condition is more serious you will be referred to a GP or hospital.
What conditions can you see your pharmacist about?
Under Pharmacy First, pharmacists can treat and prescribe medication for seven conditions. These are the conditions, and at what age, you can see the pharmacist about:
- Earache – 1 to 17 years.
- Impetigo – 1 year and over.
- Infected insect bites – 1 year and over.
- Shingles – 18 years and over.
- Sinusitis – 12 years and over.
- Sore throat – 5 years and over.
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections – women 16-64 years.
Anyone not within these age ranges should see their GP.
Cancelling your appointment
Please cancel any unrequired appointments so other patients can be seen.
As a practice we have a large number of missed appointments each year. This has an impact on how the practice runs, as it prevents other patients from seeing a doctor or other health care professional on the day they need to be seen.
DNA’s are monitored and frequent offenders may be removed from the practice list.
Consult with a Doctor online
Southcote clinic is using PATCHS as a new online consultation service.
The new online consultation service offers a secure, simple and flexible way for patients and carers to contact their GP practice – it will not replace face to face appointments, it is in addition to routine contact with Practices. This should not be used for emergencies when you should contact 999 or visit A&E.
By registering you will have easy access to a range of services from your computer or smartphone, including:
- reporting symptoms to your GP
- booking virtual appointments
- accessing health advice
To request repeat prescriptions, you should continue to follow the current process we have in place.
Extended Access
We are pleased to announce the forthcoming phased-launch of Hillingdon’s Extended Hours service. It will be available to all of our registered patients and will provide appointments with either a nurse or a GP – from 18:30-20:00 Monday – Friday, and 08:00-20:00 Saturday and Sunday.
Patients will not be able to book directly into the Extended Hours appointments, and they will not appear on any patient-facing online booking system. To book an appointment with this service please phone the practice during our reception opening times and one of our reception teams will be able to arrange an appointment for you.
The service is based at 3 local sites:
- Eastcote Health Centre – Abbotsbury Gardens, Pinner HA5 1TG
- Uxbridge Health Centre – Chippendale Waye, Uxbridge UB8 1QJ
- HESA – 52 Station Road, London UB3 4DD
Home Visits
Please phone to request a home visit. This service is only for housebound patients or those too unwell to attend the surgery. The doctor will phone you back to assess whether a home visit is required. Please make these requests as early as possible – ideally before 11 am.
